LATE ARRIVAL BY FOUR HOURS!: SATURDAY 27TH SEPT

After a four and a half hour plane delay at Adelaide Airport, 'Rowdy' Lance and myself, Kossy, boarded at approximately 415pm with seven beers in our bellies! We did watch the Hawks Cats GF and with the Hawks flying, so were we.....FINALLY! YAY!

Arrived near 830pm at a humid but pleasant Darwin. Waiting is the hardest part as the Tom Petty song goes. So, again we waited for a taxi and it came and took us to Prap Apartments. Pizza at near 11pm for tea. marvellous match preparation! Tasted like cardboard, wet cardboard, the pizza did. Oh, Pinky's pizza from Renmark please for Darwin!

DAY ONE: SUNDAY 28TH SEPT

Six hour sleep! The Supers for Rowdy and myself confronted the Big V Country at the magnificent TIO Stadium. After SA Super Seniors lost narrowly to WA, us boys were in front early in the third quarter. All-Australian running machine Grant Hawksworth blitzed as an on-baller, 'Spoggy' Morgan was brilliant off a wing and Peter Window smashed 'em. State debutant 'Rowdy' was a cool-in-the-crisis performer and Heath 'Heater' Gurney rucked manfully in tandem with big Alex. The 'Hawk' played a champion match and All-Ozzie selection beckons yet again for him.

The Vics had some gun players especially in midfield and the second half they put us Croweaters into the melting pot. Our ruckmen won lots of hitouts but most of our taps were sharked by the Vic rovers. Unfortunately they ran away to win by six goals. We have a chance to redeem again against Vic but their Metro side 2pm Wednesday.

Lance 'El Pres' Gum set the early tone in his side's match against WA. A 'cooling' breeze was some sort of relief in a tight struggle. WA seemed to always kick an important answering goal but CJ's masterstroke of putting Dean 'Lucy' Lucivero to fullforward won the SA lads the game. His goal from a strong grab nailed the game. The big fella was icing his left ankle postmatch but should be ok for Wednesday's round.

DAY TWO: MONDAY 29TH SEPT

Us three Superdogs bussed it to Darwin CBD and strolled around the city. Oh, some sights indeed. Came across Paul Arnold Bush Photography. ‘Arny’ needs to do lots of explaining when we get back home…Of course we had a few ales at a couple Irish pubs Shanadagans and our SA team’s sponsors Kitty O’Sheas. Of course took some photos as well and souvenir shopping for ‘Kossy’. Later the three of us ventured down to Sky City Casino for tea – seafood ‘all you can eat.
A few more beers back at the Parap Apartments and went downstairs with some of the other players near the pool..till the wee small hours

It was a relaxing, very relaxing day after several ales yesterday. Three of us went to the shops to stock up and Rowdy cooked a beaut meal – t-bones, potato bakes and salad followed by tim-tams for dessert. The El Pres Lance went to catch up with a mate at a nightclub whilst Rowdy and myself watched Packed To The Rafters and also discussed tomorrow’s game plan against Vic Metro.Pics! Oops no pics but Lance was getting treatment on a tight hamstring from Rowdy!

DAY FOUR: WEDNESDAY 1ST OCT

It was a big day finished off in a huge night but let’s start from the top! Cabbed it to TIO Stadium by 1030ish and Lance’s team played the NT boys. Unfortunately they lost by 27 points. The Supers as in Rowdy and Kossy’s team played the Vic Metro lads at two and it was a convincing win by us. Hawk, Palmy and the two big forwards for us in Plugger and Speccy grabbed everything that came their way. Marshy marshalled the defence and it was a complete team effort from all of us in our 34-point win.We confront the NT big boys on Saturday and we need to win by a fair bit to claim the ‘flag’. Anything’s possible. Look at Hawthorn!!Irish pub, Kitty O’Shea’s was rocking when most of the SA boy’s and some partners congregated. The dancefloor took a pounding and your’s truly got into it.Gee it’s a prelude to Saturday night after hopefully a few of the SA teams win their ‘finals'.

DAY FIVE: THURSDAY 2ND OCT

After such a big and great night at Kitty’s – Wazza became our ‘tour-guide’ and from about 1030 he took us out eventually to the Humpty Doo Pub. Very laid back pub it is and the locals sat inside and outside sipping on coldies and puffing on fags!I had a Barra Burger amid speculation it had goldfish in it. Well that was according to Wazza! Rowdy and Pres jumped on board as well! I enjoyed the burger. After Humpty we had a drink at the Numbah pub followed by the impressive Beachfront. Carona’s by this stage for Rowdy and I!
Later in the early evening went to the Honeypot pub owned by Rowdy’s mate Graham, an ex-Lyrup player. Tea there and we went to the Rocking Country pub for some more bevvies!Home by midnight. Sat by the pool for a while before crashing!
